Louisville
Kentucky is known for a hot open-faced turkey sandwich called a “Hot
Brown”. Here is a simple version done in the oven.
This
is an excellent brunch dish with a different look. Cut into fourths
and serve with a spatula.
Ingredients:
14
oz. Smoked turkey ( sliced bologna thick)
3
or 4 sliced Roma tomatoes
5
or 6 slices crisp cook bacon
1
cup of shredded cheese
1
tube pizza dough
1
tube croissant dough
1
egg for a wash
Directions:
pre
heat oven to 350 degrees
Slice
the roma tomatoes. Spray a 9 x 9 baking dish
Cook
the bacon until crisp and drain.
Unroll
the pizza dough and press into the bottom of the baking dish. Cut it
with a table knife to fit.
Make
a layer of turkey
A
layer of tomatoes
Spread
with a few slices of bacon for a layer,
then
½ of the cheese.
Add
a second layer of turkey, tomatoes, bacon and cheese ( reserve a bit
of cheese for the top.
Roll
out the croissant dough for a lid.
Brush
with an egg wash and sprinkle with last of cheese
Cover
with foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
Cut
into fourths and serve with a spatula.
