Yule love these balls!

Are you having guests over for the game or any occasion? Try these time honored appetizers. They are quick and easy and are just the thing for tiding hungry folks over until the meal – or game is ready.

Here is an old Bisquick recipe that has stood the test for generations. Sausage & cheese work well together on these compliment enticing servings.

Ingredients:
  • 1 package ground turkey sausage
  • 2 cups shredded gouda cheese
  • 1-1/4 cups pancake mix
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup milk (shredded cheese in a bag is dry, don't forget this step)

Directions:
Heat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray lightly.

Chop the onion very fine. (If you start with frozen it will work much easier.)
In large bowl, stir together all ingredients using hands or spoon. Let sit for 5 minutes. Lightly wet your hands to roll the balls to prevent sticking. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Place in pan.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until brown.
If they are not brown to your liking, switch the oven over to broil and broil for about 5 minutes. Please watch these carefully when you do this.

Immediately remove from pan. Serve warm with sauce for dipping.

Our dipping sauce:
1 can of sloppy joe mix
Mix a slurry of 2 Tbs corn starch and beef broth.
Mix in and warm in medium saucepan until thick.
Stir in 3 Tbs Triple Sec orange liquor

Instead of toothpicks, use short pretzel sticks in each meatball. It will hold and the guests can eat them instead of making a mess with piles of toothpicks!

Have a wonderful and safe time!
